Photos matter on a site built around camping recipes and camper van conversions — a blurry Dutch oven shot or an unclear wiring photo doesn't help anyone. This page explains where our images come from, how we handle licensing and attribution, and what to do if you believe one of your images appears here without proper credit.

Where Our Images Come From

Most photos on RV Road Notes fall into one of these categories:

  • Original photos taken by our own team during actual camping trips, campground cooking sessions, and van build projects.
  • Images submitted by readers or collaborators who have given us explicit permission to publish and, where applicable, edit their photos.
  • Licensed stock photography purchased or obtained through royalty-free platforms that permit commercial editorial use.
  • Public domain or Creative Commons–licensed images, used strictly in accordance with the terms attached to each license.

We do not knowingly use copyrighted images without a valid license or written permission from the rights holder. If a specific attribution is legally or contractually required for an image, that credit appears directly beneath the photo or in a caption on the relevant post.

How We Attribute Third-Party Images

When an image requires attribution, we aim to include the photographer's or creator's name, the source platform, and the license type, following the format each license actually requires. Some royalty-free licenses don't require public attribution at all, so not every stock photo will carry a visible credit — that's normal and doesn't mean the image is unlicensed. If you're curious about the source of a specific image on any post, feel free to reach out through our Contact page and we'll gladly clarify.

Reuse and Permission Rules

Unless otherwise stated, the original photography on this site — including our own camper van conversion progress shots and camping recipe photos — is owned by RV Road Notes and is not free for republication elsewhere. If you'd like to use one of our images on your own blog, social account, or publication, please email us first at [email protected] with details about where and how you'd like to use it. Many requests for small-scale, credited, non-commercial use are approved; commercial reuse typically requires a separate agreement.

Please also note that saving and repinning images through Pinterest follows its own set of norms, which we outline in more detail on our Pinterest Disclaimer page. That page explains how our images may appear on Pinterest boards and what that does and doesn't authorize.

Submitting Images to Us

We occasionally feature reader-submitted photos — a finished Ford Econoline build, a foil packet dinner cooked trailside, a mason jar breakfast prepped for the road. If you send us images for possible publication, you're confirming that you own the rights to them or have permission to share them, and that you're granting us permission to publish and lightly edit them (cropping, color correction, watermarking) for use on the site and its associated social accounts. We'll always try to credit you by name or handle unless you ask us not to. Details on how we handle submitted content and any related collaborations are covered on our Collaboration page.

Requesting Credit or a Correction

Mistakes happen, especially on a site that publishes regularly. If you spot an image that should carry your credit, is missing a required attribution, or was used in a way that doesn't match the license terms, please contact us directly at [email protected]. Include the URL of the page in question and, if possible, a link showing where the original image was first published. We take these requests seriously and typically respond within a few business days.

Takedown Requests

If you are the rights holder of an image on this site and did not authorize its use, we want to fix that quickly. Send a takedown request to the email above with proof of ownership and the specific page URL. Upon verification, we will promptly remove or replace the image. We'd rather resolve these matters directly and amicably before any formal notice is necessary.

How This Fits With Our Other Policies

This Image Credits page works alongside our broader site policies. Our Editorial Policy explains how we vet and produce content generally, while our Disclaimer covers the limits of the practical advice found in our camper van and camping content — including the fact that photos of a build or recipe are illustrative and your own results, tools, and vehicle setup may vary. For questions about data handling tied to image uploads or submissions, see our Privacy Policy.

We built RV Road Notes to be a genuinely useful, trustworthy resource for people converting their own rigs and cooking real meals on the road, and that includes being upfront about the images we use to tell those stories. If anything on this page is unclear, reach out anytime — we're happy to talk it through.
